Great seat - amazing price!Reviewed by K. Haber, 2009-10-22
This bike seat is the greatest! It literally took me just five
minutes to get used to and has been comfortable ever since.
I had been experiencing discomfort riding my bike for months before
getting this new seat and as a result, I kept coming up with
excuses not to ride. Now with the Planet Bike seat, I can't wait to
get back on.
Excellent!Reviewed by Adam Fontaine, 2009-10-07
Great seat for a decent price. Put a few hundred miles on this seat and no problems or soreness. Did the NYC Century with this seat and did not feel uncomfortable for one sec. I had the prior model to this one without the gel and the post bar on the left side started to bend well after the 30 days so I could not return it. So if your trying to decide between that model and this one, spend the extra $20 and get this one.
Excellent seatReviewed by Andy S Kane, 2009-08-09
I recently bought a Specialized Tricross triple bike. The seat it came with would hurt my butt bones after 20 miles or so. I've done several 30+ mile rides with this ARS seat replacement and it is absolutely comfortable without any pain. Catchy name too - ARS seat.
Great Saddle: Not too hard, not too softReviewed by P. STEIMEL, 2009-06-27
This is the best bicycle seat I have ever used. I was afraid it might be too soft; it was not. It is firm, but with no pressure points... Surprisingly comfortable. From my perspective, I could not see anyone not being comfortable with this saddle. It's like riding with no seat at all. What I mean is...you don't notice it is there.
Good modestly priced seat with "anatomical" designReviewed by Michael Sandman, 2009-06-04
Designs like this supposedly make bike riding easier on one's
backside, and this one is definitely more comfortable than the
regular gel seat it replaced. I'm using it on a hybrid or "city"
bike and it absorbs the bumps of the patched streets of Boston
pretty well. The one thing I don't like is that the fabric is
brushed nylon and it tends to grip my trousers when I swing my leg
over to get off the bike. A higher price will probably get you a
slightly better made and longer lasting seat, but if you're riding
relatively short distances in the city this one is a good
value.
There are many similar designs by other manufacturers. One of them
allows you to adjust the width of the seat, if effect, by
increasing the gap that runs front-to-back. But the Planet Bike
5020 is comfortable once it's adjusted properly on the seat post,
so I don't think there's much to be gained by adding a lateral gap
adjustment unless you're very small or very large.
Note that it's important to take the time to make sure you have the
seat installed in the right position -- tilted a bit forward so
that you're comfortable and in the right place back-to-front on the
seat post. If you don't adjust it carefully you may be sore and
unhappy. But any seat needs to be adjusted, after all.
